ETA 9/2 - She won 1st place! Thank you so much to the judges!
Phew! I didn't think I'd make it! This challenge gave me fits - I started and discarded half a dozen attempts trying different poses, settings, etc. I combed DA for everything oriental and tropical I could find and I found lots of cool stuff that didn't make it into this, so I'm definitely going to have to do a couple more Asian-flavored pieces later!
I finally got inspired when I noticed one of my dolls I have on display. She's wearing this gorgeous costume and I wondered if I could somehow get her outfit on the required stock model. It wasn't easy, but with the liquify tool, clone tool and burn tool, I managed to make it work.
So the costume, including the hair ornements, are taken from my photos of my doll. I painted the hair. The rattan chair is also my photo and that wasn't any fun to carve! Still, I only had to do what shows, thank goodness!
